Second Appointment with Supervisor (Proposal Structure Outlining) – 14th February 2025

On 14th February 2025, I met with my supervisor to outline the structure of the official PSM1 proposal. We went through the required components as listed in the university’s template, including the project title, type, problem background and proposed solution, research objectives, scope, requirements, and project area. The discussion focused on how to concisely present the significance of the problem and propose a technically feasible solution using machine learning. I was also guided on how to align the methodology with appropriate datasets and tools.

• Discussed proposal structure and content outline.

• Confirmed selection of CSE-CIC-IDS2018 dataset.

• Identified RF, SVM, K-means clustering, XGBoost as the chosen algorithms.

Upcoming Plans:

• Begin drafting the full proposal based on the approved structure.

• Conduct detailed literature review to support the Problem Background section.
